Sticky Keys

IN DEVELOPMENT FOR TWIDDLER 4

In some situations, holding down T1/Num, T2/Alt, T3/Ctrl or T4/Shift while typing is not desirable. The Sticky Key mode allows T1/Num to act as Num Lock and T4/Shift to act as Caps Lock.

When enabled, simply tap the Sticky Key and it will remain on until tapped again. Holding the key, will also toggle it until it is tapped or held again. Both T1/Num and T4/Shift can be enabled and toggled to the ON/OFF positions at the same time.

For chord notation, when a Sticky Key is toggled into the ON state, the chords will always have that modifier associated with it.

For example, if Num Lock is toggled on, using the default config:

T4 Notation

  • pressing F1R (“a”) will send T1F1R (“1”).

Classic Notation

  • pressing 0 R000 (“a”) will send N R000 (“1”).

Enabling the Sticky Feature

By default, Sticky Keys are disabled. To enable them:

  • Go to Tuner
  • Open or create a config file
  • In the Settings area at the top of the page, click X below the Sticky key you want to enable. The X button should change to Check.

  • Save the config
  • Download the config to Twiddler - Save the config
  • Enjoy Sticky Keys

To disable enabled Sticky Keys, simply click on the activated sticky key to deactivate it.

Notes about Sticky Keys

  • All Stickies can be toggled ON at the same time. This makes accessing special reserved chords very easy. In some cases, one of these chords may be pressed causing undesirable results.
  • For V6 firmware, T0F1L will show the status of Num, Shift and Scroll locks with white LEDs on the Twiddler. In v5 and lower firmware, there is no indicator on the Twiddler to show the state of the Sticky Keys. On screen output is the only way to tell which mode a Sticky Key is currently toggled.
  • Most of the time, people who use the Twiddler in the left hand will enable Sticky Num, while right handed Twiddlers will use Sticky Shft.
  • Sticky Num and Sticky Shft functions can be accomplished by using the built in chords as well.
Function T4 Notation Classic Notation
CAPS Lock F1R 2R 3R 4R 0 RRRR
NUM Lock F1M 2M 3M 4M 0 MMMM
