Bluetooth

The Twiddler operates in both Wired, via USB, and Wireless, via 4.2 BLE. When in Bluetooth mode, the Twiddler must be paired before it will start sending keystrokes and mouse data to your host device.

NOTE: to use the mouse as an input device in iOS a few settings need to be set: click here for more info

Multiple Host Pairing

You can pair your Twiddler 4 with three separate Bluetooth hosts. For security reasons, the Twiddler 4 will only connect to one host at a time. Use T14F2M to sequentially cycle through the Bluetooth Hosts currently paired with the Twiddler 4.

Your first host

To connect the Twiddler 4 to your first host:

  1. Unplug the Twiddler 4 from USB. A single Blue LED will be flashing indicating the Twiddler is searching for a Bluetooth host.
  2. On your host, open your Bluetooth manager and select “Twiddler” from the list of active devices ready to pair.
  3. Once paired, this host is stored in Slot 1 on the Twiddler 4.

Your second host

The Twiddler automatically picks the next open slot to store a new Bluetooth host. To add a second host:

  1. If your 1st host is within range, temporarily turn off its Bluetooth radio or it will connect with the Twiddler 4.
  2. Unplug the Twiddler 4 from USB.
  3. On your second host, open your Bluetooth manager and select “Twiddler” from the list of active devices ready to pair.
  4. Once paired, this host is stored in Slot 2 on the Twiddler 4.

Your third host

Use the same procedure to add a third host to your Twiddler.

Automatic Discovery Mode

Automatic Discovery Mode will pair with any of the hosts in your pair table. To enter this mode press T14F2M until all 3 LEDs light up. The Twiddler 4 will be actively scanning for hosts. This mode has been designed for situations where you have paired with hosts that are in different locations and want to seamlessly transition from one host to the other when in range. A good example of this is a work PC and a home PC. If you pair the Twiddler with both, when you leave home, the pair is dropped when out of range of your Home PC and automatically paired when you get into range of your work PC.

Rearranging the host order

The Twiddler 4 places new hosts in the next available slot. Keep this in mind when adding hosts to your Twiddler. If you would like your Home Desktop to be in slot 1, Phone in slot 2 and Work Desktop in slot 3, add them in that order. If you would like to change the order, you need to remove the Twiddler pair from each host THEN reset the pairing table on the Twiddler and start over.

Power Saving

In order to conserve power, you can set the Idle Sleep Mode in Twiddler Tuner. After a defined period of time of inactivity, no button presses or mouse movement, the Twiddler will go into a sleep mode. This sleep mode deactivates the Bluetooth Radio and disconnects from the host device. In order to wake up the Twiddler from sleep mode, just push down on the Touchpad as you would issue a “right mouse click”. You will see the Status LED blink while the BT Radio is reactivated and repaired with your host device. This is usually done automatically and within 2-5 seconds. Actual pair times vary and are dependent on your host device. You can use the Twiddler as usual once the pairing procedure has completed. The Status LEDs will stop blinking once the pair has completed.

Radio

The Twiddler 4 uses the EByte E73-2G4M08S1C radio.
